How easy is parking in Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik’s historic charm also means limited parking availability, especially during peak tourist season. This presents challenges for both residents and visitors, leading to increased traffic congestion. The Old Town is designated as a car-free zone, preventing vehicles from entering within the walls. Hence, the only viable option is to park the car outside the city walls.

In this article, we will explore various parking options, ensuring you have a spectrum of choices for a stress-free exploration of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Whether you prefer the public car park near the historic center, street parking, or parking at slightly more distant locations such as Gruž Port, our aim is to provide you with diverse and convenient options for your visit.

Parking near Dubrovnik Old Town

There are multiple options if you wish to visit the Old Town of Dubrovnik with your own car. One of the best options would be to use the multi-story garage at Ilijina Glavica (Zagrebačka ulica bb). It is open 24 hours and has 711 parking spaces. Most of the time the garage is at least half-empty, although it tends to get crowded during the tourist season. Parking price for this garage operated by private company Best in Parking is 3.00 EUR per hour. If you wish to leave your car in the garage for an entire day, you will have to pay 30 EUR. This garage also offers charging for electric cars with rates from 1.40 EUR for 3,7 kWh to 4.30 EUR for 11 kWh.

From Ilijina Glavica garage, a walk through The Bogišić Park or along Pero Budmani Street will take you down to the Old City in just 5 to 10 minutes. As the walk includes stairs, the walk back will tend to take a bit longer.

Just outside the City Walls, there are street parking options available at the Buža parking and parking next to Pile Gate. Please bear in mind that parking spots this near to the Old Town come at a considerably higher price compared to other parts of the city.

This also applies to Hotel Hilton’s garage situated at Pile Gate, which is appealing for its close proximity to the entrance of the Old Town. However, if you plan of leaving your car in the garage from 1 to 4 hours, be prepared to pay 30 EUR. In case of using the garage from 4 to 8 hours, the price will be 60 EUR, while 8 to 24 hours will cost you 100 EUR.
